Phong Nha Ke Bang

Featuring hundreds of cave systems, with incredible length (up to 44.5km), scale and terrain, Phong Nha is a paradise on earth for ones who love adventures. In 2009, Son Dong Cave was first discovered and believed to contain the world’s largest and uninterrupted cave passage.

Phong Nha Ke Bang, which spreads on an area of 123,326 hectares, was subjected to serious exploration in the 1990s, carried out by Hanoi University and British Cave Research Association. Since then more and more riches have been discovered and keep amazing explorers from all over the world. Phong Nha Ke Bang possesses collections of glamorous terrace, dry caves, stunning crystal-edged stalactites and grandiose stalagmites. The diversified terrains of Phong Nha-Ke Bang can be traced back to the karst formation process caused by massive tectonic changes in the Palaeozoic period.



Primeval tropical evergreen jungle and primary forest, which cover a mountainous area of 885 km2, are other attractions of the national park. The road to Tien Son cave is winding over halfway up the mountain, mouth of the cave at a height about 200 meters above the Phong Nha cave ceiling. This cave is considered as cattle with thousands of stalactites blocks of colorful stalactites, gleaming stone columns with marble color, which looks very attractive. The entry mouth of Tiên Sơn is at an altitude of 200 m from Phong Nha cave. This cave is 980 m in length, located next to each other, Phong Nha and Tien Son caves do not link with each other.

Along the way up Tien Son cave, you can stop anywhere and look back at the foot of the mountain are rice fields, maize fields, sugarcane dumps or a view of a the mountainous region countryside. Picture of countryside here is so beautiful. There are landscape and mountain villages, mixed with Chay, Trooc Rivers, and the water source runs from majestic Truong Son range. Gentle blue water is winding through the countryside and shore to supply water to the sea.

There is a 10m deep abyss, which is 400m away from the entry mouth. Then tourists will reach a 500m long underground cave, which is rather dangerous for walking. Discovered in April 1935, the cave was originally given a name of Dong Tien meaning Fairy cave due to its marvelous beauty inside. HOW TO COME DALAT FROM HOI AN & VICE VERSA

As you known that Hoi An town is a small town, just for tourist visiting. So, No bus, no flight, no train directly to Hoi An town from other provinces. However, near Hoi An town is Da Nang city – one of Vietnam’s 05 biggest city. So, vietnam danang has the variety of transports, you can take advantage of these transportations. Almost situations, we are always recommend the tourist should catch the transport suppliers of Da Nang city. It’s better in case you lost your way or forgot the way. Just joking! The main reason because Da Nang is very near Hoi An town (just 29 km).


Clarify that no way from Hoi An town directly to Dalat city and vice versa. Of course, excepting for private car or your personal car. However, Dalattrip team is pleasant to advise the good transport ways from Hoi An town to Dalat city and vice versa as follows:

- From Hoi An town

Tourists should catch the taxi or local bus to Da Nang city, then you can refer the guide of Da Nang – Dalat route for going to Dalat by bus, by train or by air.

Then you can ask the driver to drop you off Vinh Dien crossroads (you should write down this Vietnamese text and give to him “Ngã Ba Vĩnh Điện” if you can not speak that. We think it’s rather difficult for foreigner). At Vinh Dien crossroads, you can catch the taxi or local bus to Hoi An town. It’s far 10 km from Vinh Dien crossroads to Hoi An town. Please note this length for escaping from taxi scam if you prefer taxi service. We always wonder that why almost tourists don’t like to go directly to Da Nang city for discovering one of Vietnam’s 05 biggest cities. Then tourists can leisurely catch the local bus from Da Nang city to Hoi An town (just 29 km). It’s very easy and comfortable itinerary. Anyway, have a good trip!
